Volunteers maintain school gardens, bulletin boards and help make other improvements to contribute to the overall beautification of our school.

Each year, PTSA coordinates with the teachers at Smith to publish the list of school supplies required for each grade the following year. The items may then be purchased in convenient kits put together by EduKit. Parents may purchase these kits rather than having to buy items separately themselves.

Annual yearbook of portraits and candids

Organizes the annual eye/hearing screenings held in November of each school year. Parents scheduled for hour-long slots.

Monthly math challenge for all students to participate in.

Scripts Annual Spelling Bee Competition.

Organizes a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math fair for students of every grade level to participate in. The committee can decide the guidelines for entry, themed topics, judging criteria and prizes.

Volunteers on Watch are family members who volunteer to help out during drop off and recess.

Join a group of people who want to help new and existing families feel more connected to our school community through programming, education and events.

Works with your classroom teacher to communicate with class parents about upcoming events/activities. Sends out and keeps the teachers favorite things list current, collects classroom funds, and helps with classroom parties. Helps classroom teacher.

Explore Art is a volunteer–based art program provided by the Samantha Smith PTSA to support our continued effort in encouraging students to develop their own creativity and divergent thinking. The main focus of Explore Art is to introduce a variety of art concepts, mediums, and artists while providing an opportunity to learn through exploration.

Samantha Smith PTSA is committed to building a culture that makes all families feel welcome, part of and engaged in our school community.

Sustainability works with the school to find out ways to be more environmentally & sustainably minded at the school.

Coordinates the Reflections Art Show competition for the school and tracks progress of students through to the national level. Typically, we ask for judges as well, so sign up if you are a professional in the arts (or design). Hosts the Reflections reception.

Dolphin Bash is an annual event held either the day after or the week after the Dolphin Dash run to celebrate all the kids' hard work with fundraising.

Back to Business is an event held before school starts. It's a time to register for PTSA, sign up for volunteer opportunities, and do other school related business before the official school year starts.

PTSA hosts two parent welcome coffees. One on the first day of school for grades 1-5 and one on the first day of school for kindergarteners.

Students bring a special grownup to have donuts with them before school!

Students bring their grandparents (or other special family member) to school for a special valentine and treat.

Family Paint Night is an event where students and their families come together to enjoy a night of painting.

Event featuring sample artwork from each classroom.

An annual event that celebrates winter holidays around the world! Typically, it hosts local vendors, light refreshment (food trucks), crafts, entertainment, holiday drive, etc.

Organizes a 5th grade celebration event for June.

Annual PTSA donation fundraiser centered around student fun-run event.

Samantha Smith Elementary PTSA is collecting Box Tops to fund our school's programs. Box Tops is an easy way for you to help our school buy what it needs. Box Tops are worth 10 cents each and they quickly add up to real cash for our teachers to use in the classroom – directly impacting your student!

The PTSA is an organization of Parents, Teachers and Students working together with teachers and staff for the benefit our our students at Samantha Smith Elementary. The PTSA organizes volunteers, fundraises, advocates for children legislatively, funds many of the educational enrichment programs at school and more. Programs we provide include Nature Vision, Explore Art, Math Challenge, Health Screenings and Yearbook. We also host numerous social and educational activities throughout the year, including STEM Night, Winter Wonderland and International Night. Funds raised by the PTSA are used to conduct these programs and purchase supplies and equipment for the school.
